Eastern Christian Ecclesiology, Distance Education

This is a course in Eastern Christian Ecclesiology in which practical and theoretical perspectives will be considered. Three main perspectives will be presented. The first perspective is historical, reflecting on the ideas of the Church. The second perspective will be contemporary, reflecting on the ideas of the Church in the Orthodox diaspora. The third perspective will be canonical reflecting on regulations of the Church.At the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to: - demonstrate knowledge of how ideas of the Church have emerged in history - show an understanding of the discussion on the nature and life of the Church in the twentieth century orthodox diaspora - be able to identify differences and similarities in Church Law and Church Order between Rome and Byzantium - demonstrate an awareness of the nature of ecclesiological studies and how various perspectives can be integrated
