Global Studies: Key Concepts
This course introduces students to key concepts and theories within the study of globalization. Using an interdisciplinary perspective including human ecology, peace and development, and social anthropology, it familiarizes students with academic debates on and approaches to study global interconnectedness and topics of global concern.
The course will encourage students to reflect critically on processes and discourses of globalization and explore how they affect various dimensions of social life in different parts of the world. After a broad introduction to the study of globalization, students will further explore the key concepts and debates through the lens of food and agriculture.
Teaching takes the form of lectures and seminars. The pedagogical methods might also include audio/visual exercises. The courses are held in English with both Swedish and international students.
