Resilienstänkande i hållbar samhällsplanering
Welcome to the course Resilience thinking in sustainability planning!The course is given within the Sustainable Urban Planning and Design Masters Program, as well as in the Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure Master Program, but all eligible students are welcome to register for the course.After passing the course the student should be able to:explain and use central concepts in resilience thinkingdiscuss how these central concepts relate to each otherreflect on and critically discuss resilience thinking in general and in relation to sustainable planning in particularapply social-ecological resilience in a planning contextpresent written work in a scientifically sound waywork in a collaborative project settingThe course consists of two parts. The first part focuses on the theories and concepts underlying Resilience Thinking (social-ecological systems, ecosystems, the adaptive cycle, regime shifts and thresholds, resilience, adaptability, transformability). The second part is a practical application of resilience in the form of a Resilience Assessment exercise (group project work) in relation to planning.We use lectures, literature seminars, a study visit, a home exam, and a group project to reach the learning objectives of the course. The seminars, the home exam, and the project work are the parts needed to complete the course.The course literature and a detailed schedule will be posted on Canvas for those registered for the course.
