Social Anthropology: Modern classics
Course name: SANN13, Social Anthropology: Modern classics. Advanced level Master Course (Second Cycle). 15 credits. Spring semester. Language of instruction: English.
To be eligible for a master course you must have passed the bachelor/undergraduate level.
This course is offered as a stand-alone course and is also compulsory within the Master´s Programme in Social Anthropology (SASAN).
The aim of the course is to provide you with specialised knowledge in sociological and social anthropological theory, focusing on modern classics in both disciplines.
The course literature is intended to inspire your theoretical and analytical understanding of various social phenomena and theories.
The course provides you with an understanding and an overview of modern currents of the social sciences as they are reflected in predominant discussions within the different disciplines.
The course literature has been selected to represent texts that have developed theories and stimulated research of recent years. In order to identify key aspects and encourage critical reflection, the course includes compulsory exercises and an independent project.
Please note that this course Modern classics SANN13 cannot be included in a degree together with the course Modern classics SOCN04.
