Sociologi: Klassisk och modern teori
Sociology: Classical and Contemporary Theory. The course intends to give an advanced understanding of classical and modern sociological theory.
Course name: SOCN03, Sociology: Classical and Contemporary Theory (Swedish name: Sociologi: Klassisk och modern teori). Advanced Level Master Course (Second Cycle). 15 credits. Autumn semester. Language of instruction: English.
To be eligible for a master course you must have passed the bachelor/undergraduate level.
Strong emphasis is placed on the reading of original texts, as well as on the comparison of different sociological concepts and theorising. The course also wants to display the relevance of sociological theories for understanding the general processes of change that characterise modern societies.
The teaching consists of lectures, group discussions, supervision and seminars. Group discussions and seminars are compulsory.
The course is compulsory within the Master's Programme in Sociology (SASCO) and is also offered as a stand alone course.

Application for this course is open from mid March to mid April each year (Swedish national application dates).
