Sociology: Methods and Social Analysis
Course name: SOCN06, Sociology: Methods and Social Analysis (Swedish name: Sociologi: Metod och samhällsanalys). Advanced level master course (Second Cycle). 15 credits. Autumn semester. Language of instruction: English.
To be eligible for a master course you must have passed the bachelor/undergraduate level.
The course intends to provide advanced knowledge in sociological method with a special focus on a selection of quantitative and qualitative research traditions.
The course consists of two components. It starts with a more theoretical part where methodology, investigatory techniques and research traditions are studied.
After that a more practical part follows, and you will carry out empirical studies in accordance with two research traditions of choice.
The course is offered as a stand alone course. It is also a compulsory course within the master´s programme in sociology, SASCO and is offered as a selective course within the master's programme in Social Anthropology, SASAN.
