Atmosfärskemi
Chemistry happens everywhere, even in the air you breathe. Chemical reaction is the main route to remove gaseous air pollutants from the atmosphere, both for natural and man-made substances. This course gives you a deep understanding of the chemistry that takes place in the atmosphere and an explanation of the resulting effects on the environment. We put the main emphasis on processes in the lower atmosphere but the stratosphere is also treated. You will learn how photochemical reactions initiate oxidation of natural and anthropogenic compounds in the air and how to treat such reactions quantitatively. Practical reaction kinetics, reaction mechanisms and experimental methods are other subjects covered. Atmospheric chemistry is a young science that is developing fast. We always try to keep our students in touch with the latest developments in the research field. This is an ideal course e.g. if you like to combine chemistry and environmental issues in your professional life.
